Businesses wouldn’t offer free self-defense classes – liability! They’d just put up a ribbon in tribute of all the fallen babies. Maybe they’d sell ribbons too, so you can honor the babies.
Yeah… reminds me of a very valuable lesson I learned during my college years.

Most people hate school. Even the “smart kids”, what they really like is learning or knowledge, not school.

much more fun than a plain flawless mirror.
yeah agreed! Back in the day I used to generate text for fun with n-grams and I never went higher than bigrams bc it was boring without those unexpected disfluencies. I thought of it being like an electric guitar, you want it to sound a little raw.

“Two ways,” Mike said. “Gradually and then suddenly.”
History’s like that too. People took their best guesses, but nobody knew for sure.

Since there’s no “Lord StarTron” in Star Trek, I’m guessing this is just a 0 mask. Why put it there?
- Your average normie’s gonna look at that and say: “Star Trek BS, I don’t wanna think that much,” and forget all about it.
- Your average Trekkie’s gonna mention it to every other Trekkie they know, and thus expand the reach of the flyer. Everyone has at least one Trekkie friend.
- The intended recipient’s gonna look up “Lord StarTron”, see nothing, and then out of desperation just add the birthday to the mask and try that number (which is the right answer)
The cops raid the place with a similar device and find absolutely nothing.
Sergio@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it normal that I have this inner conflict of not knowing where I belong?English0·13 days agoCheck out youth hostels / Hostelling International. Basically they’re inexpensive dorm-like hotels mostly targetted at younger backpackers. The ones in LA and Boston are in great locations. About 12% of Americans are of German descent (cite) so ask around, you or a family friend probably have a distant relative who immigrated here at some point.
So: get a cheap plane ticket. Fly into a city with a youth hostel. Wander around for a while. Catch a Greyhound Bus to visit your distant relative in Iowa. Hang out with them for a while. Catch another Greyhound to another city with a youth hostel. Fly back. You will meet a lot of people in the hostels. You’ll meet a lot of people on the Greyhound. Look up stuff ahead of time, not just tourist stuff but concerts or clubs or sports events wherever you go to. Sure it costs money but it’s a hell of a lot more fun than a resort or a cruise or whatever. Wait, isn’t “wanderjahr” a German word? Anyway after you spend a month or two here you’ll know whether you still like us or not.

Sorry to hear about your worsening health issues. I hope everything works out as best it can.
I read somewhere that there are actually two types of fiber, and they have different effects, but most food is only ever labelled “fiber” so idk.
