There are multiple points in human history where science has overestimated itself.
In Abrahamic religions, God is all knowing, not people. Eastern religions are more abstract, some have all knowing deities and some do not.
Israel’s 1948 Declaration of Independence states the nation was founded on the “national and historic right of the Jewish people”
Israel’s 2018 Basic Law constitutionally enshrined the state as the “nation-state of the Jewish people,” granting exclusive national self-determination to Jews, prioritizing Jewish settlement as a “national value”, designating Hebrew as the sole official language (with Arabic demoted to “special status”), affirming Jerusalem as the capital, and guaranteeing Jewish immigration rights.
This may be why people conflate the two. Israel has defined itself as Jewish state.
As Mo Amer says, it’s a marketing issue.
That’s generally true. If you live in a northern climate vitamin D deficiency is very common and certain over the counter meds like omeprazole can impair vitamin absorption (b12 in the case of omeprazole) if taken long term. Supplementing other vitamins hasn’t been shown to have any meaningful benefit.
Just to be clear Vitamin A is the treatment of choice for measles. But it needs to be dosed by a healthcare provider and is generally not used for prevention (that’s what vaccines are for).
Also, vitamin A (like vitamin E, D and K) are fat soluble so you can overdose on them, causing liver failure.
Sometimes being partially right is worse than being wrong. Though in this case these impressionable folk would have likely followed RFK Jr regardless.
It’s the USA. Everything is for sale. From the wellbeing of your ordinary everyday citizen to the government that supposedly represents.
Thought you were talking about America’s elected government for a second there.
Sure but the scale and recency of European colonialism certainly leaves a bad taste in many people’s mouths, even the descendants of colonists.
Many are also put off by European and its new world colony’s claims of moral supremacy over those victimized by colonization, especially as it was the birthplace of nazi-ism and countless genocides.
So I agree with you. Humans have been nafarious for a long time. But I think many see the legacy of European colonialism and the Trans Atlantic slave trade as an atrocity at a scale never before seen in human history.
Western tech had a massive head start.
When a country’s tech manufacturing is being developed it’s going to start by making what already exists because… it has to start somewhere.
It didn’t take long for Japanese cars to supersede American cars. China is now doing the same to both American and Japanese cars. Nissan nearly went out of business and is still in trouble. Tesla’s situation isn’t helped by how dislikable its founder is so its value is plumetting.
Most countries don’t know how to deal with the advent Chinese EVs so they’re just slapping massive tariffs on them and hoping they figure something out in the meantime.
It isn’t just going to stop at Japan and China though. Japan was subsidized by the US post WW2 and China built its manufacturing from the ground up. There are many other countries on that path which will lead to significant global competition. The West is going to have to keep its head up if it wants to remain competitive by the end of the century.
The leading Western nation responding to increased global competition with reactionary protectionism is a bad start. It’s squandering all of the soft power the US has cultivated post WW2 leaving a power vacuum for China and other influential nations on the ascension to capitalize on.
There’s no way the wall would look real as your perspective shifts while yoi over closer to it. Most humans would react to that by at least slowing down.
Interesting that in the most consumerist nation on earth, objects have more value than people.
Canada as a nation has a concept of common good.
America is obsessed with the idea of not helping the poor because if they’re not incentivized to “bootstrap,” they’ll get lazy.
Americans die of not having access to drugs that are developed In America and subsidized by American tax dollars.
I think we all know which is more ethical.
Many Americans do not care. Brains have been rotted by their social media and “anti-woke” identity politics so critical thinking is waning. They’ll pay more and find a way to not blame it on Trump.
America as a positive cultural force in the world is on its dying breaths. It was a good run. The rest of the world should be looking at moving forward while leaving America and the crypto, AI, and social networking dystopia it seems obsessed with creating behind.
The rest of the world should be emphasizing divestment in the US and, overall, leaving America behind at this critical juncture.
Trump administration says fentanyl though very little moves across the Canadian border. They’re using it to declare a national emergency and therefore bypass Congress.
From Canada’s perspective it’s to weaken Canada’s perspective it’s to weaken the Canadian economy so that it’s easier to annex.
US compartmentalizes based on race. It’s apparent in essentially all of the media they export to the rest of the world.
Historically American society operated based on a race based caste system and the consequences of that echo into the present day.
That’s certainly an oversimplification.
Science has representatives that are susceptible to the flaws in human thinking that are also apparent in religion. The recent pandemic made that very clear.
There is a scientific community that has good and bad players in it. Science doesn’t get to wash itself of human corruption just because it’s a process
