  • I can only imagine what hell they put you through. Right after they switched us to them our rates jumped, and at the end of the first year a bunch of people in my office (myself included) received letters from them telling us they would not be covering certain medications anymore. Most of us lucked out and were able to continue to get them for only slightly more than what we had been playing as long as we used a good Rx card.

One of my coworkers just had twins and they were early so had to stay in the NICU for a while. She’s currently dealing with her 9 year old son, 11 year old stepdaughter, twin newborns and fighting with United because they say the NICU stay wasn’t necessary.

Nothing like people’s health care being decided by accounts who only care about increasing their employer’s profits.

Side jag, I was self-employed for 12 years and didn’t have health insurance, universal healthcare was something I was in favor of but not something that got me into the voting booth. One year with United at my current job and I’d vote for a Bond villain if he promised universal healthcare.

2001, Dre’s album drops, nobody has it yet. In walks the kid who has a T1 line and a 5 disc CD copier with a spindle of discs. He sits down in homeroom, puts the spindle on his desk and says Dre’s new album five bucks right here.

He sold out before the end of the day, made a good amount of cash, and was racking it in for months getting people albums that they requested because none of us could get it work with our slow connection. Of course when the two competing ISPs upgraded their networks later that year, he lost the majority of his business, but for a few months he was our pirate savior.

Ugh, the updates…my work PC is Win 11, I got an email for IT last night telling me I had to install the latest update I had been putting off. This morning after I clocked out I started the update. I have 500 down and it took almost 2 hours to download and 3 hours later the installation is only at 53%. I’m just going to go to bed and hope it’s done by the time I have to clock in tonight.

And my coworkers wonder why I prefer Linux…
