I’ll let you know when it happens. :)
Jokes on you, I turned 30 a few months ago.
Saving Civilization, one bug at a time.
Yeah, but it’s styrofoam. You could literally run through it. And I’m sure they did that more as a safety measure so that it was guaranteed to collapse so nobody would be injured.
But at the same time it still drove through a fucking wall. The integrity doesn’t mean shit because it drove through a literal fucking wall.
Notice how they’re mad at the video and not the car, manufacturer, or the CEO. It’s a huge safety issue yet they’d rather defend a brand that obviously doesn’t even care about their safety. Like, nobody is gonna give you a medal for being loyal to a brand.
And after they dismantle all the guard rails for influencing elections I’m sure he’ll win by a landslide. I’d say he’s smart enough to only rig it just enough so he wins, but I know his ego is way too big to not give himself 90% of the vote.
I know this is basically an Onion article, but I got some thoughts on this.
Honestly, I used to feel like that was a totally viable option when travelling to other countries as an American. Never did it myself but It was easier than explaining that you’re not one of the “bad” ones. I’ve definitely heard my fair share of horror stories about Americans in other countries.
These days I’d just find it extremely disrespectful. At this point we really have no fucking excuse to not be better. If we don’t own it and get our shit together I don’t think we have a right to even pretend we are on the same level as Canada. The amount of solidarity Canadians have against the US right now is the kind of solidarity we wish we had. We’d rather fight with each other about whose fault it is and laugh at the ones that voted for Trump rather than come together. And just because you didn’t vote for him doesn’t mean you are automatically absolved of any responsibility. It’s like saying Russia isn’t the enemy because there are people there that disagree with the invasion of Ukraine.
Already dual booting. Haven’t used Linux since 2010 so it’s been a bit of a learning curve. But now I haven’t booted into windows for about 2 months now and it’s been great for gaming.
This guy is old news and we can’t change the past. I’m more focused on what I can do now. If we keep playing the blame game the only thing we’ll accomplish is getting pissed off at each other instead of what really matters.
I can blame my dad or my red county for getting him elected, or I can use my time to try and protect the people in my life that I actually care about. I don’t give a shit about petty revenge for every small thing that led up to this, I care about my little sister’s existence being considered illegal because she lives in a red state. Do I hate my dad? Absolutely. Will hating him accomplish anything meaningful? Probably not in the long run.
That’s only a hundred bucks more than my studio that’s in a bad neighborhood with drugged up neighbors that have not once, not twice, but three times hit the hood of my car with what looks like a metal bat or crowbar. I’ll take an old school any day.
The good thing is I don’t care about cosmetic damage and I have insurance, but it’s the principle of the matter.
“Daaaad, the other kids are being mean to me!”
If you strive for perfection you will always fall short. Just do what you can. I started actually going to stores instead of buying things online, but sometimes that is not feasible. If I absolutely have to buy something from Amazon, I canceled my Prime and just wait longer for my packages. As for the other services Amazon provides I have no idea. Look for alternatives as best you can.
The goal is more about giving as little money as possible to Amazon. You don’t have to go cold turkey and cut it all out if it causes problems for you. Use this time to research alternatives for the future as you pivot away.
I’m so fucking tired of feeling like I’m in an adversarial relationship with everything. I’m so tired and I’m just trying to exist without everything that I do needing to be scraped and monetized.
Honestly, the secret is not being a publicly traded company. All the others have to make the shareholders happy while steam just does steam. If the line doesn’t have to constantly go up you can pretty much do whatever you want as long as you’re still making profit. And if what you’re doing is already working you don’t need to add gimmicks or advertisements to milk it as much as you can just to appease the shareholders.
Let’s not do anything about the unregulated technology that can spread lies faster than ever before as websites get absolutely flooded with believable bots that outnumber the actual users. Let’s make secret passwords and handshakes like we’re in a clubhouse.
Regardless, it’s not a bad idea since it’s probably not gonna get better for awhile if at all.
We got a new kid around 19 working at our office for processing data and I hate how true this is. The amount of times I’ve had to say “No, you have to double click to open folders” is entirely too many. Either that or “You have to actually right click on the icon you want to copy you can’t just click anywhere on the screen.”
