Being mean to cops accomplishes nothing and might just put you in danger

The single most important thing we can all do is to fully marginalize and ostracize the republican traitor filth.

I have a seedbox and would totally be up to seed Wikipedia. Is there an easy way to automate that always the newest release gets seeded? I don’t want to do it manually every day.

that’s a step beyond my of-the-dome abilities but if you look on the backup site, lots of partners keep “the last 5 good backups” and i’m sure there’s a way to automate what you’re describing

Main backups are only done a few times a year. I just grabbed this years and last years for now. I would suggest multiple versions just so you can potentially cross reference and see what changed between updates. For example, what was removed can be just as informative as what was added.

I know no one is going to like this, but sincere question- how does being mean to cops make any of our issues better?

Like interfering with their ability to get things done, recording their interactions with the public, etc seem productive. But empty antagonism seems like a good way to inspire greater antipathy for the public that makes issues worse… At least with being mean to ice (who, to be fair, are also cops) it seems more likely the public disdain for them is a large enough amount of the population to make them feel ashamed of themselves, helped along by that fact their actions are more clearly abhorrent at an individual scale, making it easer for those voices to impact them.

But I think with regular cops it’s too easy for them to still think of themselves as good guys doing an important service, and I don’t see “being mean to them” as likely to actually have an positive impact on the issues we’re facing

I would be open to thoughts on how it would make things better though! Just because I don’t how it would help doesn’t mean it necessarily wouldn’t, but intuitively it seems to me like it’d be counter productive in most cases

By removing the cultural respect they have. If they are routinely seen as the bad guys, the attraction to the profession is diminished. We begin to make a career in law enforcement similar to used car salesman and telemarketers. People will routinely disrespect them. Power hungry morons will think twice before going into those jobs.

This is 100% why for me.

As someone who has been verbally abused and called names by an aggressive cop while his partner had his hand on his gun… most people in the U.S. think all cops are good, and anyone who was on their bad side did something to deserve it. I flipped off a taxi, for the record. The cop thought I flipped him off, pulled me over, and screamed at me. I was 19.

Even my own family thinks I did it. “That’s why you don’t flip off cops.” Cool…

People also think cops deserve to be shitty because of “what they put up with,” while we have to be on our best behavior or risk death.

What does one bad apple do? It spoils the whole bunch. Police are a spoiled bunch. Fuck cops forever.

I think this is a fair argument. I’m not sure if I see “being mean to them” as necessarily playing out this way, or being the best way to achieve that end (one can have no respect without being insulted/verbally attacked. Creating a stronger “us vs them” has explicit risks to our communities), but I can see the point you’re making

I appreciate the sincere answer :) hope you have a lovely day!

    1. Always be willing to lend a hand
    2. Give (and receive) more hugs
    3. Be mean to cops
    4. Talk more with your neighbors
    5. Be extra mean to cops

I personally like to have the tiniest, possibly imperceptible understanding that all they do is waste time. Just a little bit of pity in my voice when I talk to them in person. Pretend you’re talking to someone who doesn’t deserve respect.

I got pulled over for expired registration. “Oh hi there, how can I help you? Gosh sorry, I just didn’t realize. Sure I’ll wait.”

How much do you get paid to do this? It’s way too much. Look at you thinking you’re important with your uniform.

Yeah, it’s all good advice except the part about getting yourself shot and having crack sprinkled on your corpse.

Boo them from a good safe distance when you have people with you. Don’t confront cops.

Get organized! Its the only one that matters!

Quitting socmed is good because its fucking up your brain probably, and it will likely change you for the better. Internal change and development is revolutionary, it is actually an act of resistance.

Consumerist action only matters when part of a larger campaign, so get with BDS or maybe veganism but don’t get sucked into thinking like vegans, they’re too individualistic and hostile to solidarity.

Support real artist, good I love it, but see if you can get artists working on a project as part of organizing. Every group needs artists so if you know some, get them to make some revolutionary art.

Being mean to cops doesn’t really matter but it’s better than being nice to them, and I’ve seen people be like “oh I actually hate cops but we still have to work with them on this” which is so fucked up and wrongheaded I will literally attack people like this if they don’t respond to education. So fuck cops and keep them out of organizing and mobilizing spaces.

But please get organized! The fact it isn’t on here is in fact suspicious.

I took a leadership role in my kids scout troop. Can’t do shit about this situation, but hopefully I can help these 70 kids get a good start on life and prepare for what’s to come.
