Honestly it’s hard to even get in the mood. Everything related to the 4th this year feels like satire.
If you’re like me, it’s a great opportunity to ruin the family picnic with politics and pressuring maga relatives. Likely won’t change any minds, but maybe I’ll luck out and not get invited next year.
Talk enthusiastically about how much money we’ll save by slashing medicaid if they’re on it.

Oh good lord. I would absolutely love to hear how that goes.
I have no idea what he said, but based on the status of his response right now, I’m going to say that it went somewhat less than well…
Their father in law is a big Trumper. That’s about the gist.
I haven’t felt patriotic since the 90s. Every 4th feels like I’m surrounded by deluded people.
9/11 ruined it for me, specifically the “proud to be an American”, flag on cars garbage—while we passed the Patriot act and started more wars.
Yeah, patriotism always felt fucking weird as a kid growing up in the 90s.
I’ve been pretty ashamed of my country for a long time.
Celebrating a day breaking away from a king in a year, we return to a king, very infuriating.
OP should be banned for celebrating political violence
It’s a day off! Be grateful to the overlords
Every day is a day off if you quit your job.
Quitting is too much work.
Just stop working and see how long it takes for them to fire you.
I haven’t worked for twenty years now I just show up and walk around with a clipboard and my phone out.
Day off? Lol
How I celebrate a 3 day weekend: I make it a 4 day weekend lol
Some people use their vacation time to take a week off at once, I use it to make every 3 day weekend a 4 day weekend lol
I work a 4/3, my normal weekends are long weekends. Stat holiday Mondays make for an extra long weekend. Canada Day was a Tuesday this year so I took Monday off and got a 5 day weekend in exchange for 1 vacation day.
How I show up to work during my mandatory vacation:
(there’s nothing there)
Comment made me smile thanks 😊
Nothing to celebrate. Once you wake up to the reality of the world, nothing to celebrate.
