      Maaan… short, quippy, and wrong. Also, super insulting to teachers.

      I think this tired old saw keeps getting regurgitated when people really want to apply Sturgeon’s Law: 90% of everything is shit. To state that another way, for just about anything, any attribute , only 10% of the population is acceptable.

      The one case where the “those who cannot do” seriously applies is “Those who can no longer do, could maybe now teach.” Also: build, practice, mentor. This is a natural progression for expertise and passing on your knowledge.

    In defense of OP and this phenomenon in general, it’s super difficult to fully analyze a system of which one is part. So yeah, this is why we see effective life coaches whose own lives are a shitshow. Compounding that difficulty are the emotional attachments we have to specific outcomes of a given situation. Mark Manson goes into this in humorous fashion in “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck.”
