Yep, there’s probably already a bunch of children of illegal immigrants that are working to support their parents because their parents can’t go out to work any more. Or even worse, their parents have been deported already and they’re sending money abroad to support them.

Maybe that’s how it is now in most cases, but in the past children were made to support the family financially. And it probably already works like that for the poorest in the US. The Republicans want to go back to that past. In Arkansas they legalised children working in abbatoirs, I can guarantee that none of those children are doing it for ‘a little bit of pocket money’.

Yeah, the USB port on all my phones was the first thing to go, and then you’re just stuck doing the stupid little dance of getting the cable to go in at the exact right angle to get it to charge. With wireless (especially with MagSafe), you just put it on the charger and you never need to worry about cables. I’ve got a plug on my USB port to keep dirt out now.

He’s talking about his grandparents ending up at 0 or below as well. Whatever we manage to save before retirement isn’t adequate to pay for elder care (unless you’re lucky enough to drop dead randomly), and most of us can’t build generational wealth to pass on. Basically the wealthy will end up buying whatever assets you have accrued over your lifetime.
