There was an old trend of trick divers jumping from incredible heights into incredibly small pools. Cartoons would reference this with scenes of divers making trick jumps into things like buckets and cups of water. This is further playing off of that meme.

I still don’t read it that way, but assuming it is, that is still unreasonable. There are simply too many differing viewpoints, by design. The best option for this sort of thing is to start a female focused instance. It won’t be able to affect the wider fediverse directly, but it would be able provide the space that is seemingly absent atm.

This is what I don’t get about “report abuse”. It’s entirely in their power to completely ignore reports they think are unnecessary or in bad faith. They do nothing unless the mod acts on them. I got an instance ban for reporting someone that instantly resorted to cursing and insults after a minor correction from me. Apparently someone else reported the same comment (shocking) and the admin decided it was “brigading” 🙄

Explains its existence at least.
