I’ve had similar experiences teaching zoomers basic shortcuts: ctrl-c, ctrl-v, alt-tab, ctrl-shift-esc. Makes me feel like a wizard. They might think I am a wizard.

Still mostly a democracy? Erdogan just had the opposition candidate for president arrested and is in progress with getting him disqualified from running entirely. Turkiye has not been a democracy for a long time and the dictator is just doing it in the open now.

Like most (all?) big counter-culture movements, most of the people who were “in” it were not really there for deep seated beliefs. It was cool, there were parties and music, sex and drugs were plentiful. Then it was time to grow up put all that stuff behind them.

I don’t mean to disparage the whole hippie thing. Lots of people really believed in it and do to this day. I just think the majority were there for the fun then got back to “real life”.

They literally mentioned that.

Playing with fire is such a basic human instinct. Never gets old for me.

So many people believe the litter box thing. So many that it made it into this law. We’re surrounded by idiots.

Get with the times old man, it’s +1 food on every farm and plantation now.

I worked with an old Navy veteran at the time of the J6 riots. We didn’t know about it while we were working, but we both watched it on TV in our hotel rooms. Now this guy was extremely conservative. He once told me that the only thing he’s found to be consistently true in life is that you can never trust a Democrat. The next day we got some coffee and I asked him what he thought about it.

“They should have been shot.”

He was also mildly racist against anyone who wasn’t white. I asked him what he thought would have happened if a group of black people had pulled that shit.

“They would have been shot.”

“I love the poorly educated” -Donald Trump at a campaign rally in 2019. And the crowd cheered.

He could never come up with something as viciously insulting as saying shalom to this man.

We’ll see. I would have “lost” another several grand today if I’d stayed in. So I’m right once. Given that I check the market several times each day, it would have to be one hell of a jump for me to miss it at this point. But I doubt it’s coming any time soon.

This isn’t luck or gambling. This is recognizing that the economy is being destroyed either purposefully or through wild incompetence. Right now the market is reflecting that.
