Is this thing as sketchy as it seems?
Sam Altman and Andreessen Horowitz involvement should be all you need to know. But the reality is probably less dystopian than some people make it out to be. World to me just seems to be Altman trying to sell a solution to the problem that he’s trying to create with OpenAI (chatbots that are indistinguishable from humans).
This is hilarious I kind of want one
slop
Jay Graber’s background before BlueSky is in Web3 so take that information how you will.
My bad, I’m not an expert here but it’s weird that it’s open source and yet nobody else can have a bluesky? Like could I download that code and make a bluesky for everyone? If so why has nobody else done it? why is there only one for profit bluesky?
To answer your question though, no nothing has changed.
It’s still for profit, not federated and closed source so honestly I don’t know why it’s being discussed here
Using a camera on public property in the EU is broadly very legal.
Not sure if you are looking for blogs but I this guy is a good writer: https://rys.io/en/index.html
Does it count as “a human” if it’s a bot reposting human-made content for the 50th time?
I know he’s just selling the platform to AI companies, but it’s an odd take considering they’ve been moving away from being a message board and towards being just another content feed for years now.
Not gonna jump on a Kickstarter but I like the idea behind this. Does anyone have experience with these automatic brake lights? They don’t seem like the best idea to me but I’m open to being convinced.
First of all, you are on feddit.nl and cannot speak for"Lemmy". That said- if anything, “Lemmy” users should be supporting independent journalism like 404 Media.
It’s to prevent scraping/harvesting by AI: https://www.404media.co/why-404-media-needs-your-email-address/
They do not ask for a phone number.
Any inconveniences you’ve noticed with Graphene? For example I’ve heard tap to pay functionality doesn’t work.
Well said, I was thinking maybe the entire reason OPs charisma is -1 is because they’re out there trying to convince people to do something instead of just doing their own thing.
This is so true. Indie games are legitimately better these days. AAA titles can have a good game at their core, but it always feels like you’re fighting with the game itself to enjoy it. From custom launchers and meaningless boring “side quests” and “achievements” to pad them out. Indie games are much better at cutting right to the point of what makes the experience rewarding.
“Chat app” like texting/whatsapp?
Or “chat app” like Discord/Slack?
For the former, Signal is going to be the one your friends and family will actually use. For the latter there isn’t anything really approaching the same level yet. Matrix/Element is making a good effort but absolutely not there yet, especially on mobile.
