Whether it was a “quarter eater” or not was a big one. Some games were seen as having unfair levels of difficulty that were just designed to take your money. Take something like Haunted Castle as an example.

This is specifically a reference to Car Talk, a long-running show that ended recently (for a given value of recent) after one of the brothers died. Very beloved show. I think they still do reruns.

I’m gonna be sad when people don’t get this one.

Feel like shit in general since January, not only because of global events but also because of various shitty things happening in my personal life that coincidentally occurred around the same time. I have to say that when it seems like the world is actively on fire and burning down it severely affects my ability to compartmentalize. Like there’s an extra layer of gloom over everything.

It’s nice out today and I’m not feeling particularly awful, though. I made mini chicken pot pies so I’m looking forward to lunch.

Well back then if you got stuck you couldn’t look it up on the internet, so yeah I think so. Especially since you could be unable to solve a puzzle late in the game because you e.g. forgot to grab the dehydrated water at the beginning.

Oh, yeah, Sierra games were always brutal difficulty. They wanted to sell hint books. At least LSL (and Space Quest) killed you in funny ways, unlike King’s Quest.

I don’t actually recall these being particularly smutty despite a lot of raunchy jokes. But I also haven’t played them all.

Let’s not use the word “controversial” when “nobody with any qualifications would ever fucking agree with this” is more accurate. Controversial suggests a lack of consensus.

Not trying to be judgey, just trying to give you a push. You’re right, we all have stuff. It’s how you deal with it that counts.

You’re actively sabotaging yourself, your relationships, and your physical health because of your thoughts. Also you come across as more than a little unstable. I am not a therapist, but if I can get this impression reading 5 paragraphs of what you write, I would say you have serious issues.

Does this matter? I think we should lose the mock outrage over this and instead have actual outrage for things that we should be outraged over.

My advice: budget for it, you really need one. There are lots of therapists who offer sliding scale.

Uhh there are pretty good reasons we don’t do this today. Can you imagine if they suddenly hit turbulence? This seems like it was almost certainly photographed for advertising purposes too.
