We can see obesity started to increase worldwide in the 1950s, especially in America. There are other causes but it was partially due to the rise of more heavily processed foods. We can, broadly speaking, link obesity to a person’s economic status, as having the time to exercise and prepare/purchase healthier foods is a luxury. We can also link this to the ris of car dependent cities as people walked less. Countries with more regulation against unhealthy food and more walkable infrastructure have less obesity.
