You don’t need to signal to people that you dislike reddit by saying r-word. It’s a given that anybody on lemmy dislikes reddit.

(Btw, I believe in aliens, most people with even passing familiarity with astronomy do.)

Point of clarification: I believe there’s a good chance of “aliens” in the universe (i.e. life on Earth isn’t the only life in the universe). When I used that term, I was referring to people who think aliens are visiting the earth.

Regardless of what I need to do, I’m going to do it. I do lots of things I don’t need to do.

Contextually, talk about “belief in aliens” almost universally means belief that said aliens have visited Earth, or at least communicated with us. Which is not a normal position.

I do not believe that “belief in aliens” almost universally means believing that aliens have visited earth. If you believe people mean this, I think you have a distorted perception because you have only listened to people talk about crazy people. I have asked many of my friends about if they think aliens exist – some said yes, some said no; the ones who said yes all made reference to drake’s equation and similar. I suppose we may live in different social spheres, but still.

Thank you. I was trying to figure out which developmentally disabled site they were referring to.
