After reviewing the previous meta post, and discussing with the community moderator, we feel that closing this community is the best option at this time. This community does not have the moderation capacity to handle the content that gets posted, and the rules/culture need to be reworked to prevent the issues that are common here. We got some great suggestions in the linked thread if someone would like to work on this in the future.
Please feel free to offer additional feedback in this thread, and to suggest alternate communities to fill this niche. I can edit this post to add suggestions:

hello please consider giving me this community so i can spread lies about people who downvote me thank you
I support this unironically. Chad McTruth is a bastion of fairness, transparency, and authenticity. I would trust him with my life
Thank you for this community, it makes sense to close it. See you around on lemmy.ca
It’s had its heyday. Lemmy.ca was a great neutral ground to discuss happening on other servers, but I’m pretty sure the drama was supposed to just be talked about from an observation standpoint, instead of being re-litigated in the fediloredrama thread. I think too many threads devolved into that leading to its downfall.
I never envied anyone having to moderate this community though.
I get it but it’s a little disappointing. This kind of comm seemed only two skips removed from lolcow content. On the other hand, it helped me get the lay of the land as a new user who isn’t even certain what instance I belong on. Also, I built a pretty comprehensive user block list just by browsing the posts and seeing what kind of interactions I would like to not have. It also kind of shines a mirror on me and shows me ways I should avoid acting.
But, the premise is just bad so I can’t really say I blame y’all for dropping it. People shouldn’t have Lore.
I’m in the same boat. As someone who pretty much entirely avoids toxic subs and stays away from news and politics for the most part I used this place as a sort of “Out Of The Loop” for the Fediverse.
At the same time I understand the reasoning behind the closure.
Not at all a good alternative when they ban users for random reasons and is federated with hexbear
nice you posted a guy getting banned in YPTB
most definitely impartial moderation there, they must’ve said something really bad
That post is about you banning every user from dbzer0 simply based on their instance from !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works, while also pretending that that community is supposedly open for everyone to discuss their perspectives
Tankies never venture into this community, despite this being a place where they can freely discuss their viewpoints.

How is it supposed to be possible when people get banned just for their instance as seen in the OP
Ironic that this is usually the type of blocking that is criticized on MoG
.ml actually has this comm instance-blocked LMAO

The user you refer to is a 5 months old account with 46 comments whose recent comments criticize Blahaj’s moderation. An account that recent with so few comments shouldn’t be involved mostly in moderation criticisms, this seems to be an alt that got previously banned from that community. On top of that, calling db0 a tankie sympathizer is obviously going to get this kind of reactions.
Yeah mate, I’m a “tankie sympathizer” who made an instance with an explicit anti-tankie rule. I’m playing 4d chess. Fuck outa here.
They were banned for brigading and vote manipulation. You can see my response here: https://lemmy.world/post/36077521/19464677
Just saw this, updated my comment above with that link.
I will update the other comments where I posted this too tomorrow, I’ll keep you posted.
