Well, “skirmjan” has still made its way into English I believe, isn’t it the etymology for “skirmish”?

Hey, it’s Harry DuBois’s car!
I actually forgot about the Walkman/Discman split terminology, I didn’t realise they changed the name to CD Walkman reasonably late.
Otherwise yeah you’re absolutely right, this car record player sounds like an absolute nightmare of needle skipping and ruined vinyl.
Like… the Walkman?
Their favourite m.o. during election season was sealioning and concern trolling, as well as baiting people into breaking the civility rule and then reporting them. It seemed to me like they were taking pleasure from skirting around the letter of the law while violating the spirit of it.
It was completely incredible at the time that they went on for months without getting banned.
Jeez, Universal Monk is still at it? Christ almighty.
Not just buying the guide books, but I’m fairly certain these companies had hint stations your could make paid phone calls to if you were stuck.
I’ve only completed the remake of the first game as it was on sale on GOG last year for about ten cents. But as far as I understand it none of them contain actual explicit material. They’re supposed to be sex comedy, not porn games.
What is potentially reportable about a picture of a floppy disc?
"Capital has the ability to subsume all critiques into itself. Even those who would critique capital end up reinforcing it instead.”
My favourite will always be Red because of nostalgia. It doesn’t really hold up these days but being a kid during peak Pokémon mania where everyone were whipping out their Gameboys during recess and the dude who got a Mew from some marketing event was king of the schoolyard was just the source of so many memories. Most of them related to longing for an innocence lost, I’m sure. But still.
Realistically though as a game I think HeartGold/SoulSilver was the peak of the series. Lovingly recapturing the essence of the first two generations, adding a ton of content on top and even shipping with the freaking Pokewalker! It’s got everything that was good about G/S/C in a modern package, what more can you want? Going back to Kanto after beating the Pokémon League is still the coolest thing ever. But maybe I’m swayed by nostalgia again…
Great comment always. In addition to dolphins I think it’s possible that corvids might demonstrate certain aspects of grammar too, though I don’t think the research is conclusive yet. I remember reading news about corvids possibly showing capacity for recursion.
EDIT: was meant as a reply.
I used love these as a kid. Very varying quality of toys in them though it needs to be said. Sometimes you’d get like a 10-piece mini jigsaw puzzle and feel absolutely robbed.
Always thought it had weirdly delicious chocolate, too.
“Putting human remains on display is unethical, especially when no consent has been given,”
Wait, this is their issue? Not colonialism and displaying stolen goods, but the fact that Artemidorus didn’t sign a form allowing his mummified body to be displayed at the British Museum and his 3000-year-old ghost might be offended?
Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven was the shit growing up. I didn’t have a PS2 myself but would regularly be over at a friend’s house to play. I remember taking turns in the campaign and unlocking the secret level/secret character. Even as years went by and his PS2 got replaced by a PS3 we kept coming back to Tenchu, playing late night multiplayer sessions or doing co-op and trying to set up the various two-player combo stealth kills. Such good times.
Nah he’s just farming +2’s
That era of Nokia was just the best ever. I used to have a Nokia E70 phone, and it’s still probably my favourite phone I’ve ever had. That full physical qwerty keyboard was so good to type on, even compared to smartphones of today.
