System Shock 2 Remaster Announced for June 26th, 2025

Nightdive Studios has announced the remaster of System Shock 2 is set to release on June 26th, 2025. The trailer shows an exciting revival of a sci-fi horror classic, available on PC and consoles.

  • Platforms: PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch
  • Rebuilding: Utilizes Nightdive Studios’ proprietary KEX Engine for modern platforms
  • Features: Improved visuals, enhanced gameplay, cross-play co-op multiplayer, mod support, etc.

The original System Shock 2, released in 1999, revolutionized storytelling and atmosphere. It won over a dozen awards and was hailed as ‘Game of the Year.’


What game-play wrinkles from the original do you hope they’ve ironed-out?

    I want them to make the worm gun better. In the original it worked about as well as you would expect firing worms at people would do…

      I want them to retool the “puzzles” so they aren’t just RNG and if there’s budget, finish the ending to be closer to what it was suppose to be. You can tell it was cut short.

    I mostly want them to fix spawning, so I don’t see when enemies spawn.

    Otherwise I never had any particular issues with bugs, and don’t expect major gameplay changes since it’s remaster not remake.
