Exactly, and centrists will shrug their shoulders and say “well if they aren’t going to pay taxes, do they really deserve to be here?” and be completely clueless to how blatantly hateful this is.

Gimp 3.0.0 is fucking awesome, haters gonna hate.
There is already a killer plugin for Gimp 3.0.0 called “Batcher” that lets you batch edit and convert images (including pdfs) either with a GUI interface or from the command line. There are already plenty of tools that can do this from the command line, or that are commercial paid software… but this is a pretty damn powerful utility to have attached to a fully featured free and open source image editor that you could teach someone who is uncomfortable with scripting how to make a bunch of edits across a large amount of image files with.

Not convinced yet, but we will see
I am skeptical to say the least.
a group of people that are deeply committed to supporting one another for life
Yeah, I love the DIY mindset but sometimes it feels like people are trying to learn to surf in big punishing waves and deciding that if they can’t learn to surf those that surfing is too frustrating.
It is totally legit just to dip your toes in bit by bit, thank you for making that point!
Windows tends to suck all the time, but the vast majority of the time it only sucks a little bit, because it’s Windows… It works, but it’s not great
It doesn’t work though, and official windows tech support is basically useless anyways.
Make a flash drive bootloader so you can preview what it is like? Why not?
Well the thing about the future is sometimes the thing that always happens doesn’t, or sometimes the thing that “won’t happen” suddenly does.
I understand the cynicism and I don’t think anything will radically change overnight, but we are CLEARLY in a new status quo, you will start to see serious uptick in linux users, for a million different reasons.
Beyond All Reason!
It’s really sad that his willingness to say the tech industry is full of shit is such an unusual attribute in the tech journalism world.
What is interesting is if he didn’t pretty regularly say in so many words " why the fuck AM I the guy who is sounding the alarm here?? " I would be much more skeptical of his points. He isn’t someone that is directly aligned with the industry, at least not in an “authoritative expert capable of doing a thorough takedown of a bubble/hype mirage” sense that you would expect someone sounding the alarm on a bubble to be. I mean I can tell the guy likes the attention (not in a bad sense really), but he seems utterly genuine in the attitude of " wtf, well ok I will do it… but like seriously I AM the guy who is sounding the alarm here? This isn’t honestly my direct area of expertise? I will provide you a thorough explantion with proof… but my argument really isn’t complicated, it is just ‘business doesn’t make money why will no one acknowledge that’ and it breaks my brain that people that are experts in directly adjacent/relevant things can’t see this…? am I high? "
… cus yeah Ed Zitron, that is how a lot of us fucking feel right now.
(these aren’t direct quotes, I was summarizing, go watch/listen to some of Ed Zitron’s stuff, none of his arguments hinge on anything unreasonable or especially complicated, which is the worrying part…)
gosh Ed Zitron is such an anodyne voice to hear, I felt like I was losing my mind until I listened to some of his stuff
Condescendingly always saying you are too busy doing important things to write good documentation.
No they are not, some are made for obtuse assholes by obtuse assholes.
Yeah, this is the best solution at the end of the day for most would be text wizards, emacs is beautiful, vim keybindings are beautiful.
