  • Because not every metabolism is built equally? I ate like shit and barely exercised for 10 years working as a programmer and my weight stuck at 180lb/82kg the entire time. Nowadays I get a lot more exercise and still eat like shit and weigh 170. My buddy watches his food intake properly and takes a walk every day, and he’ll gain 10 pounds just by looking at a tray of cookies, bounces over and under the 200lb mark constantly.

  • Fucking same, man. Guy I used to work with was 57, alcoholic, had like 3 teeth left, bad attitude, the works. Looked like a man-rat hybrid had been drinking moonshine and gasoline for two centuries. Brought a new woman home from the bars at least once a week. Some of them half his age. I know he wasn’t rich either because I’d been to his house before and I occasionally had to lend him some cash, so it’s not like he was flexing with money.

I got to actually hear him put the moves on somebody once and I don’t remember his opener but I shit you not his winning line was “Yeah I tell ya, I’m hung like a pimple but I’ve had some good practice with it, wanna come see?” and a little wink and I swear on my ancestors it fucking worked, it’s insane, I thought I was having a stroke.

  • I’d be interested to hear what those problems are. Not saying you’re wrong by any means, but the legacy of the iPhone has been, from the very beginning, a simple, non customizable, piss easy to use, smart phone for dumb people that basically can’t be broken (at least on a software level) because it won’t let you play with any of the fiddly bits. It does exactly what it does and if you don’t like that, shoulda bought an Android instead, because this iPhone isn’t about to let you change it.

That’s not to say that they can’t have bugs or issues, because they certainly can, but the ability of the phone owner to brick themselves is like a fraction of a fraction of a percent of what you’d see with Androids in my experience. Android will let you do what you want up to and including breaking your boot loader if you mess around with developer settings, Apple doesn’t even give you dev settings last I knew.

I’m an Android fan myself but I do see that Apple has a use case, and that use case is giving non technically minded people a device that “just works” mostly without having to fiddle with it.
