At least most of the artist’s name is still visible, I’ve seen a lot of comic posts that completely remove it.

‘old’ and ‘unknown to me’ aren’t the same thing and never were. When someone says they’re into ‘old movies’, they never mean that they like rewatching movies from the 2020s.
30 years is pretty old for a movie.
Sure feels like that sometimes, LOL
That’s why today, Germany prevents system change, so as to not again change from normal capitalism to worse capitalism.
*tries to prevent system change. It’s not going that well, IMO.
, they say, after bringing it up themselves.
Looking at soviet Russia and maoist China, no they don’t.
IDK man. AI generally reproduces existing biases, and who is going to control those who control the AI?
Well, we aren’t manipulated by technology per se, but by the humans who control the technology. Could have been nice if Silicon Valley wasn’t so damn fascist. But I suppose that’s nitpicking, Giles definitely had the right idea.
Sinfonia Eroica … composta per festeggiare il sovvenire di un grande Uomo (“Heroic Symphony, Composed to celebrate the memory of a great man”
Eulogy for a dude who’s still alive, brutal!
What part of this sounds like satire to you?
A large part of this are going to be insomniacs who are using media because they can’t sleep. Evidently that’s a feedback loop, but it’s not as unidirectional as the headline and abstract suggests.
Damn, what’s the power draw on that thing?
Someone could make low quality Ghibli style images by hand in large quantities. Is that just as bad?
Evidently they didn’t do it, though, so AI does fundamentally change the issue. AI is both cheaper and faster than human content creators once your model is trained (the energy use might be an externalized cost, though) and so far it is also a lot harder to sue.

Yeah. Someone has to put in the work for packaging an application if you want it as a .deb/.rpm etc. package and deal with any bugs that might come up, and it’s not going to be me (speaking as a user, not a developer).
That said, I also painted myself into a corner when it comes to harddrive space. LUKS can be complicated, man …
I think Github is a relatively simple issue. There isn’t really a shortage of european (or just selfhostable) alternatives, and the way git works means that most contributors have complete local copies of the codebase. TBH I worry more about the ability of american contributors to continue working on a project if the code is hosted in europe - basically a lot of open source developer teams could end up being split or shut down entirely. And the bigger projects like Linux and a lot of the intermediate layers between the Linux kernel and applications are majorly backed and developed by american companies and their employees.
Yeah, that’s fair. They certainly don’t make it easy to vote in USA, which is deliberate to a large extent. Easy to forget.
I think it was the votes of less than a third of eligible voters that made Trump 2.0 a reality, roughly another third just behind it, with the remainder not bothering to vote at all. I would say the often fantasized silent majority is actually not pro Trump.
That means that a third didn’t bother, though, despite Trump very much being a known quantity. The exact reason why they didn’t vote is up to debate and it’s probably several reasons at once (these people are not a monolith), but it doesn’t say any good things about them or the political system.
That’s just not what “old” or “new” mean for media. You could maybe make that argument if the movie was made a long time ago but only released now, but that’s a very rare case. The public has already consumed the media, if it was somewhat popular you might be aware of what people thought about it before you even watch it for the first time, and if it was influential it might even interact with younger movies, possibly leading to you thinking that certain elements of it are overdone or old hat when this might actually have been one of the first works to have used these elements.
On top of that, the general societal context is not that of today, but of when the movie was made - few works are so timeless that this doesn’t matter at all.
