21 days agoSoda can that looks like it has BOBOB or something written on it. It was a soda brand (that I think is now defunct) called Surge. As for why it was done that’s both more complicated and stupid. In many cases brands are obscured because studios tried to extort payments from their owners for “advertising” and the company refused. In other cases companies may have requested to have their product removed due to the content of the show or movie, although usually it’s the former reason.
It also is using absolute numbers rather than any kind of normalized scale. If a country of 5 billion people has a million leave that’s not exactly the same thing as a country with a population of 10 million having a million leave. A lot of these sorts of things suffer from this problem where the maps end up matching very closely to maps of population density.
