  • Outside of very ancient times, where many regimes we consider authoritarian were closer to an electoral technocracy anyway, I don’t think even half of the totalitarian governments respected science or technology. And when they did, it was usually because somebody was forcing the leader’s hand.

    It’s more of a trait of democracies.












  • If you are expecting consistency from something like this, you should try getting involved in local politics at least once.

    Whatever way you imagine for deciding it, the answer is yes, they do that.

    Do they gesstimate? Yes!

    Do they hire engineers to guesstimate? Yes!

    Do they concede to popular pressure? Yes!

    Do they concede to money pressure? Yes!

    Do they use the placement to guide the city’s evolution? Yes!
