I disagree about how it used to be easy. And agree with everything else.

Ive used Windows since the 3.1 days (MSDOS as well?). Its never been “easy”. You just learn the magic spells on how to fix a printer, get the right drivers installed in JUST the right way, or which hardware magically doesn’t work for some reason and avoid it.

With Linux, at least we get good logs most of the time.

I know some of the issue is the manuals themselves are out of date. Ive literally had to have something explained to me via the developers Discord. I hate going to a projects Discord in order to find out crucial info.

Sometimes manuals are in 5 different places so you don’t know what applies to your specific system.

I usually try and improve the manuals when I do come across this with a quick PR, when I have time.

Yeah my old favorite app was RIF from back in the day. That was how I worked with reddit. Then the API stuff happened…and said F it. I already didn’t like that reddit hid so much from users when it used to let us see real up/down vote/mod actions/etc…

I was lucky and lost some minor $$ in bitcoin back in the day. Now I just put it all on automatic. Index funds with monthly/biweekly deposits are the best for me and mine.

Try meshmap and have it running for a while. If it’s consistent, you will get more info either way.

No idea. Might also have been someone in a plane right above. We have had nodes appear that were all across the state, then disappear after about 30 mins because someone in a plane had a mesh device.

Nice! When you get a chance, I would love to see that code! We have a system right now that does local weather and events once a day.

I did. Took a long time to setup and then found out some of the sample servers were down. I liked how on local mesh/Lora I was able to send images! That was cool.

I personally like the aluminum case. It keeps them alive longer than plastic laptops.

On the inside its just like any other laptop except more solder points between the components (I used to do repair work on them). And they can sell more used since everyone wants to pay the apple tax.

I feel the same way on PoPOS. I have compiled my own kernel (it’s actually not that difficult honestly) and done all matter of work at work. It’s also how I know the system is super stable and I don’t have to mess with things for my daily driver stuff.
