I’ve never heard this term before. My searches online aren’t bringing up anything useful, it’s all stuff about literal pets. I can’t seem to wrap my mind around what it could mean or the right thing to search to find the answer. Could someone explain please?

The ADHD aspect of computer related stuff is something I wish more people understood, Linux and beyond. I have about 45 seconds before I get distracted, that’s if I’m lucky and my phone doesn’t go off or a neighbors dog starts barking or I hear strong wind and decide to check the weather or I suddenly remember I need to mop the floor of my bathroom and a near infinite set of other possibilities. If I need to spend 15 minutes reading man pages about what arguments actually do or searching online for it and getting a short list of links dating anywhere from 2 to 20 years ago or a forum post with a dozen pages of comments then I… I… shit. What was I doing?

Yeah I had heard about that with some phones so I asked specifically for an unlockable phone, unlockable from verizon and from android and the rep assured me it was, blatantly lying. I’m poor sadly and rely on my moms family plan so i really had no choice in the end.

I’m sure they mean an elegant dinner party to honor them and not eating your extended family as a light snack before bedtime.

What is not politically agnostic? I’m American and the list matches my own almost.

Only differences are that I am stuck with Android because Verizon, I have Element but no connections on it, firefox instead of librewolf (bc lazy), arch-based instead of arch and I don’t use/need immich and home assistant.

Happy to see this. I had a similar idea once. About every 6 months I spend a day searching a few search engines for my name. My name is fairly unique. At least one person shares my first and last name. I have seen them appear in results, listed with criminal charges that were mine. The ones that show up, I look for ‘remove my data and do not sell my information’ instructions. If they are not there, I look for a contact page and e-mail them. in the email i include:

• links with my data i want removed

• links with my data misrepresenting other people, also with a request to remove

companies that blatently disregard me or remove my data but return it later, by accident or not, after some time has passed, will also get requests to remove:

• arbitrary links to random people which have nothing to do with me but might be confused thanks to enough similarities.

• many of the same requests, from several different e-mails, basically spamming them.

the idea, which is probably pointless, is to taint the data on the sites that don’t comply. i also assume the companies that return my info later, are tagging all removal requests together, because why would i want to remove the data of a completely unrelated stranger? i’m wishfully thinking they end up with bad data that damages their reputation. i call it ‘fauxkakke’ aka 'fake bukakke.

It has had a few updates since, then but I cannot vouch for its accuracy.

It doesn’t cover audits per sé, but I feel there is important information that is tangentially related, since security audits become kind of moot if some of the items mentioned are true (i.e. CIA funding and US govt. tactics).

Full disclosure, I still use Signal for a family group chat. I have very little economic value, thus my threat model is minimal. It mentions cats several times. I neither have cats, nor interact with them frequently enough to warrant their inclusion in a threat model.

I use Proton mail for a mailing list that’s hosted and managed by a local linux users group. The messages from the mailing list arrive as .eml files, with each message as an attachment. the native web browser cannot read the attachments. I have to download each message, either individually or all of them as a single zipped file. It might be the fault of the admin of the mailing list and not Proton’s fault. I’m not sure. It’s not very active so I never bothered to look into the issue. it’s a hassle but not a problem. I thought .eml was a standard email format so it seemed odd that the web client could not read it.

i also occasionally use proton drive to back up my plaintext journal every 3-6 months. i backup to mega as well. proton drive has 2 gb of storage on the free plan. mega has 20gb. my journal is 6.9 MiB across 166 files. i have plenty of storage for my use case. i do not store anything sensitive. so that’s not a concern.
