The difference is clear. Left I took a new screenshot and pasted it over the exact same image.
Closer look:
Here you can see what is causing the blur:
And without the compression artifacts:
However, you’ve just provided even more evidence to the root of the issue. People are ignorant to what decent quality looks like. The image would be even better if it had a higher resolution than 480x480.
Here’s a new version at 708x708 as an example
With my glasses on, which I kinda need to be a functional human being, there’s little difference.
It seems you’ve stumbled on the root of the issue. I guess some people just can’t see the blur. I don’t have a particularly special phone and I’ve unfortunately been without my glasses all day. It’s likely due more to experience and ‘training’, but it’s easily apparent that my half-assed screenshot is significantly clearer. Less contrast, sure, but that doesn’t magically remove the blur. Most likely the biggest factor is that many people just don’t care, which I find beyond frustrating.
I added more blur to make fun of the ‘original’ post. I would hardly call it ‘super clear’
Here. The original post was really easy to find and take a new screenshot.
While that’s hilarious, it’s fucking dangerous.
Skiing is an extreme sport. People die or are very seriously injured. Something as ‘simple’ as a broken bone is immediately a much bigger issue because you are on a mountain where you need to be evacuated carefully.
It already infuriates me when people wear white clothing or other clothing that blends in with the scenery. You’re a total fucking idiot if you wear any kind of camo, especially arctic camo. You need to be seen so that people can keep their space or if you need to be evacuated.
If you’re dressing up as a yeti, then you’re going to be blending in and hard to be seen, then to add to that you’re scaring people which can very easily cause severe injury.
People don’t take this shit seriously.
(This is a joke at the blurry image posted by OP by exaggerating the blur)
I’ll never understand why this sort of thing is okay with people. Especially here on Lemmy.
It takes minimal effort to find a better copy. If you think it takes longer, then that’s because you never do it and you just need to do it a few times. With this small step we can make Lemmy significantly better than the rest of the Internet.
I hate that “SMBD” is slang for “somebody”
Are we living in the world of T9 again? Don’t people use autocorrect/text prediction? What happened to “sum1”? That at least includes far more information with the same effort.
No, it’s not that I’m old, I just get annoyed easily at people not using logic and critical thinking.
There’s a meme under all that jpeg?
Did you watch the new Sci show video, or is the timing of this post just coincidental?
To be fair, to be able to practice regularly for so long to gain skill is rather lucky. Also, not all practice is equal, so having someone teach you to practice more effectively is a privilege. Either that or practicing on your own in an unguided manner and still being able to gain skill takes talent.
Yeah, that’s lucky and very well could require being lucky enough to have some sort of talent along the path.
Well, the goal isn’t to just create woolly mammoth-lile creatures by copying characteristics. The goal is to recreate the genome from what genome data we have into a living creature.
It’s not like they are trying to create a sweded version, but take a creature that is already close and change the genes to match.
At least, that’s how I understood it based on the article.
You mean “”“The Deep State”“” right? …right?
I’m not sure how to best link communities. Voyager and the site in browser seem to work different. So, I’m kinda playing around with it.
But yeah, that thread explains why I’m asking. I wouldn’t have really paid that much attention if they didn’t start responding with rude comments to anyone who simply brings up that they use burner accounts to make posts.
Yeah, I actually had that originally but I changed it for reasons.
Yeah, for sure. This is a new development, but their pattern shows that they will be using all Lemmy instances they can for this. This started on Lemmy.world, for example.
Still, separately from the breaking of ToS, I just wanted to get a better understanding of why someone would even spend that much time creating burner accounts. It seems far more effort than it’s worth for any possible privacy benefits, unless I’m missing something. That’s why I’m asking here.
I’m just talking about sharing memes, for example
