Yeah, if you don’t have a greater community surrounding the support one, there’s just no reason for people to stick around once their problem is solved.

Well, no. It got toxic because the people the group helped didn’t need to go to the group anymore. So the only people left were the ones too toxic to find a partner which led to even more toxic people getting involved

When the term was first coined, it was not an insult. It was from a support group for people who had trouble finding a partner.

I have a friend who got VERY fit mainly with Beat Saber.

I have another friend who did the same with Supernatural (the game, not the show)

Weirdly, they’re the only two people I know who got in shape with VR…and they have the same first name.

I’m not wrong to say production companies don’t want to seem associated with a brand they’re not associated with. And in my other comment in this thread I noted that I greeked a movie set myself! It was the best part of the whole shoot

The other reason is that movies/shows don’t want to SEEM like they’re advertising a brand.

I was a PA on (a very bad) movie and got tasked with “greeking” (I forgot why it was called that) the products in the kitchen. The one I was most proud of was making faux Tostitos…Fostitos…

“I might get fired if I give a paid item away for free” is a completely reasonable thing for a minimum wage worker to worry about.
