It’s farmland, you see the plowmarks in front and in the back there are fields.
As He died to make men holy
Let us die to make things cheap

It has clearly been used as farmland already. And in most places where farming is common we could traditionally rely on rain, though I guess climate change is making everything funky.
There’s no following of users in PieFed, so in that sense it’s more like Lemmy.
Yeah, I was being a bit cheeky - I wouldn’t step on any jet plane that hasn’t had access to official spare parts for a few years.
I just found it amusing F-14s were bought in the mid-70s, which I guess is around the time many would say the quality of American cars also began dropping.
Turns out America’s greateast weapoin in its fight against terrorism is the quality of its engineering.
Wherever there’s a boot there’s a tool willing to lick it.
I guess the scammers are also in the process of figuring out how to use the Fediverse. Give them time. :)
There are good replies here already, but I just want to emphasize the role of bragging. It seems boasting about yourself is quite accepted and sometimes perhaps even expected in the US. In Europe it is not at all, and we tend to react strongly to it.
Whenever I’ve found Americans to be insufferable they’ve always been bragging or taking themselves too seriously.
Not all Americans obviously. And I guess a lot of Americans can’t stand these people either. But it’s still a common American trait that very few Europeans will have patience for. Even our narcissists have learned to pretend to be humble.
It seems to me Trumps strategy is always to promise different, often contradictory, things to different people. Anti elite is the red thread.
By tearing the entire country down, I guess a lot of his base feels he is successfully fucking up the elites. They like him because his different and promises real change, and I guess that’s what they are getting.
When talking about the making of Jojo Rabbit (a must see movie, in my opinion), I remember Taika Waititi making a point out wanting to represent the colourful fashion and more lively sides of Germany under the Third Reich. War movies tend to portray Nazis as dark and dull figures with no inner life other than murdering Jews and plotting for world domination. This is probably dangerous, as we won’t recognize the fascists when they’re in front of us. They’ll be laughing and dancing as they murder the innocent.
Similar to how we study Eichmann to learn about the banality of evil, I think pictures like this one should be in every text book. This is what evil looks like — pretty much like anything else, if you’re willing to ignore the atrocities.
Nuclear war is not a stick battle, it’s a knife fight. You’ll both end up bleeding out. Best thing you can do is to not participate.
People should watch Doctor Strangelove as a fucking case study.
I feel like part of the problem is that people don’t expect fascism to be so goddamn pathetic. They see obvious morons like this or Trump, and they struggle to imagine how they could possibly be dangerous.
I guess the lesson from history here is that just because they’re ridiculous it doesn’t make them any less dangerous.
One criticism is that in some models the manual release of the back seat doors is near impossible to find, rendering them a death trap.
