I don’t know where this conspiracy theory comes from. Property taxes aren’t a rent, but a service fee. Government need money to pay for road, police, hospital, school, culture and everything making your property worth something.

In theory, they’re supposed to have custom-made secure phone with built-in cryptography, a famous example would be modern Police walkie-talkie which practically speaking are using a protocol closer from (legacy) mobile phone than from radio.
The problem is that it’s 2025 and not 1995 anymore. When it was about A mobile device which can carry voice and short text message A custom device would be a bit more bulky and expensive. But today, when smartphone are mini-computer with tons of cool feature, and that people are used to have group-chat, touch screen, visual call. Sudently a custom-device feels like back in 2005. And here is the problem, most high level politicians aren’t cryptography nerd or Military/Intelligence officer understanding how to be discrete, they’re marketing and communication people who love these fancy UI, and need to show off.
Wouldn’t it be the other way around ? Lobby to get a bus stop to drag more customer ?
if I were to become a citizen of the UK, or Germany, or France, I would not feel comfortable using the term British, German, or French to describe myself. Because those words are not just nationalities, but also ethnicities.
From a french perspective, What you said about French being a naitonality and a ethnicity sounds pretty racist, like the kind of things that Le Pen thinks but doesn’t dare to say too loud. France bragg a lot about every french citizen is equal and fully french (well we do have racist cunt so it’s not fully true, but it’s not the thing people would claim in public)
Next Monday, at 6:30 5 lorries will leave the main base to bring supply to the outpost, these vehicle will take the highway 13, then the road 666, One hour prior to the operation, mine-sweepers will inspect the bridge, and special forces will secure the pass to prevent an ambush.
Now the enemy knows exactly when to attack.
Way easier, most of us do carry 24/7 a tracker and store our data in foreign host cloud. This also includes target of interest who still use social media, Ms office/google/apple cloud and more.
Special forces and submariner do post on strava letting everyone know where they are, weapon industry engineer bring work at home saving data on Microsoft cloud and way more stuff which are supposed to be forbidden but happen
Yes, many of us do filter by language, because I can’t read Korean nor Italian. However, I kept undetermined in my setting.
I believe it also helps people using screen reader to have the proper setting when reading lemmy, especially in a multi lingual social network such as here
While it’s a core belief of Abrahamic monotheist that there is no god but Gods practically speaking some people kept some traditionul/pagan belief. I think obviously about some Africans doing their own mix, but even in Europe, tons of Pagan belief stay around, stuff like knocking on woodor having a Christmas tree, let alone various form of witchcraft which are also illegal for Christians but quite common, no matter whether it’s an old man reading runes or a teen girl praying the moon because it looks cool on TikTok
Already has a BF,
Doesn’t want to initiate
Doesn’t call
Doesn’t hang-out
It’s not your boyfriend, it’s at best a crush you had a one night stand with him
You can try mbin (ex kbin) which allows to follow users including Mastodon/misskeys account. While having a nicer UI than Lemmy. Only issue is that the default UI doesn’t display the embedded images
If some things get downvoted way out of proportion
A thing I learned on that other site starting with a R is that Up/Down votes aren’t rational you can get a lot of votes for a one line joke not answering the question, and get downvoted for a long argumented paragraph without anybody telling you wha’t s wrong. So I tend to not care about votes.
Indeed, I don’t get why upvotes are public, but downvotes are hidden unless you have some admin rights on an instance.
By definition, most political problem don’t have a clear/unique good solution. You want to build more housing ? But how do you do-it ? Even on pretty technical topic like fire-safety, where do you set the balance between blocking various industries with heavy procedure and ignoring all safety practices for the sake of efficiency ?. Look at topic like tobacco and drugs ? Do you want to ban them because it’s unhealthy ? Or allow them on the name of personal freedom ? Depending who look at the questions, it’s going to change a lot.
For this kind of things, get a nurse coming at home to do it, it’s out of what a randomq person can do safely.
To find friend, try any possible hobby, no matter whether you play volley ball, volunteer at the red Cross, or are part of a wine tasting group.
Sure you may need to meet 100 persons to have one you trust enough to call them a friend, but you need to start somewhere
The few things I could understand about that.
Modern fighter jet have a huge software part. Remember the Top-Gun film where the F-14 needed an officer on the backseat to monitor radar, position, identify target and tons of stuff I have no idea about ? In machine like the F-35 it’s replaced by a computer. Like any other software it’s relatively easy to implement some permission to use-it.
Modern fighter are pretty complex piece of hardware, and you can’t just have a good mechanic reproducing a part with their own tools and need a whole supply chain running
It’s not even that new nor American only. Remember the Falkland war ? Airbus sent some french engineer to help Argentinian operating the Exocet missile because sinking a British warship is good for marketing and once done, the French gov told their British allies where the missile batteries were located (because their allies after all). Except that with modern technology, you can do both without having to have a defence industry engineer travelling. And realistically, any country exporting weapon would have way to make sure the weapon won’t be used against them (while not limiting too much their usage to not fuck their marketing)
It’s funny because I am cooking with nutmeg, and was saying that. A quick search tells me that you can have hallucination from 15g of nutmeg.
However, with the strong taste, sounds like a good netty bad poison
Company pay taxes too.
