Seriously, the US has a lot of our own shit to get together, but lets not throw too many stones over the moral superiority of european countries either. Especially right now, in the face of the growing influence of far-right parties across the, ahem, “civilized” world. The US is a whole omnibus of cautionary tales right now, it might be worth hearing one or two of them out instead of going directly to “unbelievable cliche”.

Were this true, we wouldn’t be discussing it. This is not an issue from hundreds of years ago, this is the reality lived by more than a billion people every day. There are places where attacks from feral dog packs are a present concern (example, example), there’s countless reports about this it truly is not difficult to verify. How would you approach this, if you had less than $2.15/day to survive on? A thrown rock is a great deal more effective at addressing the problem than even the most fervent moralizing.

The playgrounds I grew up on could only be visited while armed guards were there. That many children in once place made too tempting a target to be left otherwise unprotected.

Throwing a rock to protect your food is humanity at it’s most fundamental level. It’s the reason we were able to develop as a species. When you’re reduced to that point, you do not have the luxury of extending your morality to the things that threaten you and yours. I’m sorry you have to confront this today, but this is the reality of life for most people in the world. It’s despicable by your standards, but your standards have gone generations without facing extreme hardship. I sincerely hope you never have more experience with the subject than discussing it online.

Huh. Seems right, and appears to indicate that maintaining a relationship hinges on both parties being aware and mitigating dissatisfaction before reaching that Terminal Phase where everything sucks and then it ends. Ugh, I hope you’re doing alright dude. My indig Canadian relatives have been having such a fucking time with the alt-right up there they’re seriously considering moving to the US to escape the bullshit.

The only reason the US isn’t solidly in the first camp is because they really nailed the genocide over here. Just look at, say, this meme for an example of how they were so effective people don’t even remember it happened to us.

I’ve been told this was done mainly to steer the boat away from the side of the tunnels while the people in the rear used a pole to actually propel it. I’d love to know if this is true or not, there’s precious few resources about the subject.
