No they’re talking about AL, the man who’s behind every 4 second transition of whatever you want into Ghibli. Al is a savant who can crank out a billion renditions of memes turned into South Park characters a second.

He used to be a free man, but the company Open AL decided that his gift was too useful to be squandered so now he sits in a basement chained to a rock as he gets order after order demanding Hatsune Miku feet. He’s not even good at drawing feet yet.

  • This is the biggest problem for games like these. It’s trying to capture the childhood nostalgia. But to any modern gamer it’s: FANTASY SETTING 319, of course it feels hollow and stale. Even if the designers are passionate about the game, it you set it in the same type of world as all your favorite final fantasy games or fire emblem or whatever you’re making a terrible setting for a new game. It may not be a bad game, but the world you chose is actively working against it by making it stale.

I mean, it’s going to be a problem forever. The way you break out of this is by having a good 'ol visionary developer who has a unique story to tell. Unfortunately for every one of those there’s a hundred passionate developers either trying to make a quick buck or who lacks the imagination/skills to make a transformative game.

  • I read through that whole thing. What is the demand? It’s just general hate against the trump administration? I’m all in favor but unless the strike has specific legal actionable demands what is the point? Even under the “demands” section of their FAQ it lists a bunch of vague “good” things that they want (all of which I’m in favor of) but says it won’t get into specifics until later.

You do the strike, it panics the ruling class, and then what? There’s nothing they’ve been informed of that they can do. No line that tells them “you can put an end to this if you do XYZ”. Nothing to tell the people whether the strike succeeded or failed. What will that get? A bunch of people who conclude that the strike didn’t work and they need food so they go back to their jobs. Next time the strike comes around, even if it has demands this time, the obvious thought is that it didn’t work last time so why would it work this time and distrust in the people and political ideology that started this strike in the first place.

In my opinion, a movement like this is defined exclusively by their policies and demands. Without those it’s just people throwing a tantrum.

  • No? He’s acquiring capital (land, shrimp farm equipment, shromps) and using his labor to create something (more shromps) and selling his product for a profit.

He owns the property, takes the investment risk, and keeps the profits. In theory he’s competing in a market with other shrimp sellers but like I said from the sound of it the market is pretty thin so he gets to sell for a huge profit.

  • I always say - to defend the series (which doesn’t need too much defending, it’s the most successful book series after the old testament > new testament > Quran trilogy). The magic of Harry Potter is that all of the fantasy magic works exactly as well as it needs to right at the moment that it’s directly in front of the readers eyes. As you mention, as soon as it leaves the view of the characters in the story, it literally blows up into nonsense. However, as the story is being told the magic used is awesome and just what the plot needs at that exact moment to move along.
