  • I’m glad to see the mods have permitted your post comparing secure email options. Though it makes me wonder why my post yesterday comparing VPNs was removed. Strange. Thanks OP for making this comparison, I’m sure it will help people. I recently went through this same process of comparing secure private email providers, and decided to go with Tuta. I liked Proton, but prefer Tuta’s simple interface. Mailfence’s Android app doesn’t work in landscape on tablets, and their customer service wasn’t great, and the others I tried lacked integrated calendars or Android apps.

  • This news is the last straw for me, I was already starting to largely de-Google and considering a Fairphone, but this is the final push I needed to fully de-Google and move to GrapheneOS. I don’t like the idea of buying a Pixel (new or used), but if that’s my only option it’ll have to do. I was very pleased to read GrapheneOS are in active discussion with an Android phone OEM about improving the hardwear of their future phones to be compatible with GOS. This partnership likely won’t bear fruit until 2027 or later, so I’ll likely need a Pixel as my frst GOS phone.

  • Thanks those who have responded. I guess it remains the case that nobody has yet made a stong arugment against using SurfShark, so I’ll likely stick with them (at least until someon convinces me otherwise). Their are few VPNs that do everything I need, only SurfShark, Proton, Mullvad and Windscribe. I’ve had issues with all but SurfShark, which is why I stick with them, but because I read so much hate for that service I wanted to someone to make a reasoned argument detailing why I shoudn’t use them, before I move to an alternative (likely Proton). I tried asking in Lemmy’s largest Privacy sub and my post was removed without comment and I received no response from the mods when I asked, so I’m glad the mod here is more reasonable.
