Just sounds like stressing to my personal self. Why add additional self referential terminology to obsolete, phase out, or temporarily obfuscate the existing lexicon verbiage?
It’s a way to help ourselves understand reactions that go beyond regular stress. Often we talk about this sort of thing when we’re trying to get a handle on addiction or self-harm or some other type of damaging behavior. Sure, there are technical terms, but the idea is to give people an easier term to remember: “I’m starting to spiral, I need to [do whatever I figured out with my therapist].”
