Ugh, the U.S. has enough of its own shitheads already. But it’s a net positive for Canada so congrats to the Canadians.

I may have missed the train here, but since when do we dislike Peterson - what has he done? My opinion towards him was always meh (at best), so genuinely curious?

I personally cite Jordan Peterson as a red-flag interest for new people I meet, but that’s just me.

If you’re applying for a job in my department and your social media has a whiff of Jordan Peterson your CV is going in the garbage.

I’m also curious, but I think he just had some not so shockingly terrible debates against zizek and a few others. Zizek really destroyed his self-concept tho

He’s essentially the entryway to the alt-right pipeline for young boys. A lot of his ethos is anti-women, anti-LGBT, etc. and he’s gone on record as being against “woke moralists” and “cultural Marxists” (i.e., people who care about human rights). Not to mention he isn’t able to actually articulate his ideas in public forums and is afraid to have real debates, showcasing the flimsiness of his justifications for his beliefs.

And some of his stuff is just crazy and incomprehensible, like the lobster theory and basically everything from Maps of Meaning (like this and this).
