Dad put me in one, 2 weeks, 2 summers. It was all indoors though.
We met the guy in his living room and he sold dad on it. We spent a week learning BASIC on VIC-20s and the next week we teamed up and wrote our own video games. Ultimately that led me into IT work in my 30s.
