I’ve been eyeing on this game for a while after putting hunders of hours to Hunt: Showdown (in Windows). Have you played this game? Did you like? What was the experience like in Linux?

Fuck, didn’t know about that. Could you please elaborate? No way I’m spending money on the game if true.

I have no idea if this is true, but it certainly fits the very strange vibe of the game.

It’s like how I would imagine the most violent cops see the world.

All people are awful. Every criminal is a heavily armed, highly trained, fearless lunatic, who does not care if they live or die, as long as there’s a tiny chance they can hurt more people. Civilians are uncooperative, ungrateful, and suicidal.

Every deployment, no matter how routine, will likely lead you into an ambush by dudes with assault rifles.

Avoiding bloodshed is almost impossible and even trying is likely to get you killed.

        https://techraptor.net/gaming/news/ready-or-not-devs-respond-to-controversy-over-edgy-placeholder-assets

There were some edgy and racist jokes and asset names in the game that Kotaku took offense to. The dev responded saying they didn’t mean anything by it and removed the names/jokes.

Theres like over 300 employees so it seems like it’s just a few fascist sympathizers among employees.

Idk i had bought it a long time ago before this stuff came out and couldn’t get a refund.

It’s a fun game at least, some of the content pushes the envelope, like with the school shooting level.

        It’s probably fine

The OP has already been playing Hunt Showdown on Linux, their question is about another game called ‘Ready or Not’ 😁

A useful link none the less

Until this comment, I legit thought they meant “is Hunt: Showdown ready or not on Linux”. I wish putting quotes or using italics on titles was more common

Got a ton of hours in it on Linux (Proton Experimental) and it runs perfectly. Can’t think of a single issue I encountered during that whole time. The game is super fun if you’re into tactical thinking and quick and deadly firefights. Also the level design is superb and both friendly and enemy AI are really well implemented. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Played a few missions after installing Linux. Works fine with Proton Hotfix enabled in Steam. Honestly feels like it has less stutters too.

Thanks everybody! Game looks cool, it’s on sale now, though first I’m going to play Kingdom Come: Deliverance. I’ve seen the game on sale every now and then so might pull the trigger next time it’s on sale.

Currently trying to S all the maps with some friends. All I can say is that some maps are bugged (The base game crackhouse, the DLC drugpen and cult map) with guns falling through the map a lot (other maps can have this sometimes but these maps have it constantly), the rest of the game is super fun!

Once you’ve finished all the maps I highly encourage trying non-lethal runs

The game has some of the strangest bugs.

The last time I tried to play, I had no UI at all, but only in multiplayer. It worked fine in single player, but if I joined or created a multiplayer game, the whole HUD was just gone and nothing could make it appear.

That’s really the only time I’ve tried to play it since 1.0, and I’m not going to blame them for bugs in early access. But loosing the mission after the last civilian (Daniella Voll) managed to trap two officers in a bugged closed and slap us to death was as infuriating as it was hilarious.

Love it, works great on Linux. I played with a friend of mine on a couple of missions (were both on Linux) and I didn’t notice any issues.
