This is a PlayStation Portable (PSP) gaming console, not a sat nav device.

What I’m not sure about is: this isn’t a game I’ve seen before. I don’t know if the screen is showing an image, a game or some sort of genuine hack to make this into a satnav device.

The map it shows definitely matches the view through the window

I’ve never seen a PSP before (not a gamer). Thanks!

Those gps devices are so underpowered that I could see this as a huuuuge upgrade.

Yes, there is a GPS module you could get for the PSPs.

There’s tons of accessories for the PSP including things like Radio/TV receivers, camera addons, etc. Pretty funny how 3 years later, smartphones started shipping all that out of the box.

Yeah, I used my psp as my original navigation system. You had to teather a stand alone Bluetooth GPS to it, and download your routes ahead of time. But it worked, and I used it to travel across the country.

Do people driving really not have a friend to take a photo like this for them?

There are enough terrible drivers on the Gardiner without you taking photos while driving.
