I wonder if the occupation will be as successful as Afghanistan or Iraq. đż
My bet is that there isnât going to be an occupation or even a major invasion. The troops arenât there for that; people forget there was a massive mobilization for Iraq, which would be equivalent to Venezuela.
What will likely happen is that the battle plan is to continue down the chain of command until a coup is able to take place. A caretaker government gets put into place, the current government loses massively, then the USA sends back Maduro to stand trial. Meanwhile, the USA releases all sanctions and creates a bailout package dependent on the USA gaining control of Venezuelan oil.

Yeah. If Donald Trump wants to ârun thingsâ he needs 20k marines in the country, like, right now. I havenât seen any indications of that so far.
Or they just need a friendly government. From what I hear, the opposition is pretty pro-US, so that may be easy.
They still need the marines (or some other sizable force) if they want that friendly oppo government to take control.
Or they could have already paid out the current gov to hand over maduro, and let them get the oil back to private companies, in exchange for massive wealth produced by said companies
